But What Could I Possibly Offer?

The fear that paralyses most aspiring bloggers.

What value could lil ol’ me possibly bring to the table?

Unlike all the successful bloggers out there, I don’t know enough nor do I have what it takes to skilfully disseminate whatever I do know.

At best, all I can do is entertain people with my badly written content until Google penalises my blog.

These were the thoughts that kept bubbling up to the surface as I stared at my blank spreadsheet, trying to piece something together from my equally blank mind.

Coming up with something meaningful enough to write and share is difficult.

Coming up with something that could potentially transform a person’s outlook on life is difficult.

Coming up with something that could morph into a source of passive income is difficult.

That’s because good things never come easy.

Look At Me!

I started this blog in an attempt to escape the drudgeries of office life, and let me tell you something!

I’m still serving my sentence in corporate prison, BUT I’ve discovered something about myself and what I want to do with the rest of my life. Might not sound as sexy as a bag of million dollars handed over to you by a Victoria’s Secret model, but it definitely changed my outlook on life.

Then again, I wouldn’t mind receiving a bag or two or three from an unidentified modeling agency.

The discovery stems from a habit I cultivated to achieve my dream of becoming a full-time blogger, which is writing. Writing daily has positively impacted me in a myriad of ways.

Earlier, I’d obsess about trivial matters because the mind is an expert at blowing things out of proposition. Whatever I tried to piece apart within the laboratory of my mind always soaked up doubts I had about them and it inflated into a massive ball of insecurity.

Now I observe them on paper and doing so helps tackle issues by piecing them apart, studying those fragments and their relation to each other. By separating them outside, they have zero chance of evading my observation. This is both fun and insightful – and the craziest thing of all is I never expected this to happen.

Why I Started Blogging

I wanted to make money with my writing, but I received something even better than that. That being said, I wouldn’t mind if the internet Gods decided to reward my efforts by having a Victoria’s Secrets Model deliver a bundle of cash at my doorstep.

Hm. I’ll take all three.

But before they decide to bestow that honor onto me, I have to first understand what people want. You can only offer value to someone once you understand what their needs are.

Why Are They Online?

Simply put, people online are looking for answers.

Those answers could be a respite from their gruesome and often mundane work schedule or something to keep themselves entertained with – they serve a purpose nonetheless.

And that purpose is to relieve them of a problem they are facing. Your ability to deliver and market your solutions is what determines your chances of success.

If people are looking for a way to transition to Keto diet, your job is to collect the information they are looking for and present it in such a way that it not only satisfies their requirement, but also satisfies them.

They have to leave feeling they have absorbed something of value.

And it’s here that people face the issue. You are afraid that you don’t have what it takes to generate that value. You feel like a fraud – ripping people off with stuff they could easily find online.

But one thing I can guarantee you is that you do have something of value to share whether you realize it or not.

A point I’d like to highlight.

This is a major roadblock that prevent us progressing onto the next stage.

There is nothing wrong with promoting or espousing ideas that are already present. Not everyone is aware of it, and promoting ideas online increases the exposure of that idea.

Also, you don’t necessarily have to be the generator of that value. You can recycle it and present people with your own perspective. Talk about your own experiences and how it impacted you.

This my friend, is value.

You are relating an abstract idea of self-improvement with experience allowing your readers to understand it on a much deeper level.

For me, writing and ruminating about my office life has lead me to conclude that I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life wasting away in this corporate hellhole. If I didn’t take the time to sort out my thoughts and feelings about the things that bothered me, then I’d have still been stuck in that grey area of not knowing which action to take.

I’d have convinced myself that this prison cell is the best one on the market, and trying to opt out of it could put me in a smaller and smellier prison cell or even worse – I could end up on the streets.

I mean c’mon, who wants all that freedom?

Outside too scary. Me no like outside, so me stay inside.

You see, if I write a piece on the benefits of writing daily by merely mentioning its benefits, you wouldn’t glean anything from it.

Benefits of Writing Daily

  • Improves concentration

Research has shown that it does.

  • Improves memory

Again, same research.

  • Improves vocabulary

Yup, same here as well.

The End.

Please leave a like and share.

DO IT!

I doubt you’d be satisfied with that, because although it has done its job of informing you, it hasn’t been presented in a way suitable enough for you to personally relate with it.

Instead, if I describe how writing has enriched me by introducing anecdotes rich with detail and relate them to my audience and how it can potentially improve their lives, that will do a much better job of conveying my message across while keeping you thoroughly engaged. You will actually enjoy my content and spread the message, allowing me to inch closer to the keys that guard my corporate prison cell and make a bloody run for it.

It’s not just the ideas that make it good, but the way you present and take them forward. That’s what constitutes good content, and it’s something that comes with practice. You could make some decent cash selling used tissues if your narration is spot on.

If you have the ability to convince people that those tissues were used by Ariana Grande or Nicki Minaj, it will flood your inbox with purchase orders. There are actual cases of people selling silly things like blessings and fortune telling online and they’re earning well but unlike them, I have no intention of becoming a swindler.

On a side note, please don’t sell used tissues. That’s disgusting, even if you are a celebrity.

I’d rather have my blog remain invisible to the world than to use my ability to con people. It wouldn’t sit well with me, which is why I work so hard to sharpen my writing. I want to provide people with what they need, or at the very least, I wish to point them along the right direction.

What motivated me to start blogging is not what fuels me anymore. I wanted to make money by doing something online so that I could stay at home. Now I blog because I want to improve my writing. Prior to setting off, I wasn’t sure of anything, but now I know what sustains me. I know I can provide people with value.

I blog to remain aware of the inner turmoil that plagues me. Studying and writing them down gives me insights that I share here on my blog and yes, anyone can do this, but very few actually do because they think it’s a waste of time.

I know once I reach a certain level of expertise, I can move onto freelancing and expand from thereon. I see a future with this – one I am happy to progress towards. I want to bring you along with me on this journey, because that’s where the music is at.

Its Difficult to Convince Yourself

Most people like to think they have better things to do with their time like watching porn for hours on end. Who needs all those insights when you have the opportunity to watch women you will never get to date, boned by men who have a physique you will never achieve.

I bet that motivates to jump out of bed each day once the alarm goes off!

This is the guy who bones all the women you love but will never get, with a physique you love but will never get.

I’m not saying this to demotivate you, but to impress upon you just how shallow it makes you, when you refuse to work on yourself. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to actualize my dream, but moving towards it is in itself rewarding.

Getting started is the first challenge. Results come from actions, and actions come from conviction. Getting yourself into motion is the toughest part, because you have zero motivation to try something new, that may or may not produce the results you are looking for.

Just start. Even if its limited to 200 words per day, or studying an article a day, just set things into motion, that momentum will motivate you, and eventually allow you to glide across effortlessly, dishing out articles one after the other. I have completed over 60 articles as of now, and one of my goals is to reach 1000 articles here on Akkolades for the Bold.

is the key.

It’s a long way ahead, but with every article I post, I am inching closer and closer to my milestone, and that keeps me motivated.

What is Your Goal?

My goal is to reach a wider audience and provide them with valuable content, but yours need not be the same. Maybe you want to start your own business, if so, then study from those who have actually achieved it. I have learned what I have so far, from emulating successful bloggers online and strive daily to perfect my craft.

I’ve mapped out areas I wish to explore and will journey along those paths until I discover something new that could radically change my outlook. Maybe I’ll change the trajectory and head off on another tangent, but that’s the whole point. It’s not the destination, but the journey.

You can lead people to realizations that forever changed your perspective – that in itself is the best thing you can offer to the world.
